Start with the arrival, not the price

Before comparing providers, note your landing time, terminal, group size, luggage, accommodation address and mobility needs. A low-cost rail or metro journey may be ideal in daylight with one bag. A pre-arranged transfer can be more practical after a late arrival, with children, several suitcases or an address far from public transport.

Public transport

Choose metro, rail or bus when the airport has a simple connection and your accommodation is close to a stop. Check the last service, planned engineering work, ticket method and whether stairs or long walking connections are involved. Leave extra time if you need to change lines with luggage.

Pre-booked transfer

A pre-booked transfer can provide a confirmed collection arrangement and vehicle category. Read the meeting-point instructions carefully and check what happens after a delayed flight. Confirm luggage allowances, child-seat requests and cancellation terms before paying.

Airport taxi or ride service

An official taxi rank can be a straightforward option when you have not booked ahead. Use authorised pickup points and check whether the fare is metered, fixed or subject to airport charges. App-based services may use a separate collection area, so follow the airport’s current instructions rather than assuming the driver can meet outside arrivals.

Rental car

Hiring a car makes sense when the onward journey includes rural areas or several stops. It may add unnecessary cost in a city with good transport once parking, tolls, fuel and unfamiliar roads are considered. Check the deposit, insurance exclusions, fuel policy, licence rules and the exact pickup location.

Quick decision: solo with light luggage and a direct route—public transport; family or late arrival—compare a transfer; multi-stop regional trip—compare car hire.
